Embody the Vision: How to Become Who You're Meant to Be
"In order to become a champion, you must be the champion."
That’s a quote from Mike Tyson and let me tell you, truer words have never been spoken. And like most deep truths, it sounds simple, maybe even cliché. But don’t let that fool you because the power of this quote lies in its simplicity.
In fact, most of the wisdom required to live a strong, purposeful life is simple:
Put in the work.
Stay focused.
Eat clean.
Challenge yourself.
Move your body.
Listen to your intuition.
Clean your room.
Simple. Not easy.
My years in the fitness world taught me this again and again. If you want to be a healthy person, you have to live like a healthy person. You have to embody the identity before the results ever show up.
That’s why I love Tyson’s quote—it’s not just a reminder.
It’s a code for transformation.
For me, that identity is the Ayahumero.
If you don’t know who or what that is… listen to my podcast or come sit in ceremony with me. 😉
The Ayahumero is a warrior, a protector and a leader.
It’s the archetype I strive toward.
And every day, I remind myself:
“In order to become the Ayahumero, I must be the Ayahumero.”
So I walk like it.
Talk like it.
Train like it.
Live like it.
Because there is no other way.
Speaking of embodying an identity…
I recently heard a story about a young, unknown fighter walking into a boxing gym...
That fighter was Canelo Álvarez (one of the greatest boxers of all time). At the time he wasn’t famous. Wasn’t a champ. But the gym owner said, “The moment I saw him, I knew he was going to be world class.”
Why?
Because Canelo already carried himself like a champion. From the way he set down his bag to the way he laced his gloves—it was all intentional. All focused. All aligned.
In other words, Canelo was a champion long before he was a champion.
Even if you know nothing about boxing, I know you’ve felt this energy before.
Someone walks into the room and you just know—they’re different. They walk, talk and move like someone who is going to do great things. Their presence is magnetic and undeniable.
So now it’s your turn.
Who do you want to become?
Get clear.
Then be that person.
Not someday. Now.
It won’t be easy. But it’s the only way.
Because transformation doesn’t happen when you wait.
It happens when you embody the future version of yourself—before the world ever sees it.
