Plant Medicine isn’t “Medicine”

This is going to be a very hypocritical sounding statement coming from me, a plant medicine practitioner, but “Plant Medicine isn’t medicine”.

I say this, mainly because the word “medicine” can often give people the wrong idea of what these plants actually do, how they work, and even how they should be used.

The biggest issue I see from people calling plants such as ayahuasca, mushrooms (I know it’s a fungus), peyote, etc “medicine” is:

They assume that if they consume these substances, that they will be automatically healed. Because it's “medicine” and medicine cures what ails you…right?

However this could not be further from the truth.

The truth is:

Plant medicines don’t fix or cure anything, instead what they do is they provide guidance, clarity and support to help you do the necessary work. THE WORK that is required to improve your situation, your life, and your livelihood.

So instead of treating these plants as “medicine” we should treat them like tools. A tool, that if used properly, will significantly help you on your journey. A tool that will help you do THE WORK. But like all tools, if used incorrectly or improperly could easily make things more complicated.

If the only tool you have is a hammer, it’s hard to eat spaghetti…

Always remember nothing of value comes easy. Healing and growth are never given; they can only be earned. So if you want a better life, if you want to be stronger, faster, healthier, smarter, happier, more successful and more fulfilled you must be willing to do the work necessary to achieve your goals. Ayahuasca, mushrooms and other “medicinal” substances will never give you anything. They can’t and won’t do the work for you. They are however more than happy to help but it is you and you alone who lace up your boots and walk your path.

Happy trails!

See you on the other side.
