Who’s in Your Circle? Why It Matters More Than You Think
I want you to think about your inner circle—the five people you spend the most time with.
Not the people you follow online. Not the ones you admire from a distance.
I’m talking about the ones who are in your world every single day, shaping your thoughts, your habits, and ultimately… your future.
Because here’s a truth that most people ignore:
👉 You are the average of those five people.
Now for some people this is great news. But for others, it can be a harsh wake-up call.
Because if the people in your inner circle are:
🚫 Unmotivated
🚫 Unhealthy
🚫 Stuck in the past
🚫 Always making excuses
🚫 Avoiding growth
🚫 Living the same year over and over again…
Then whether you realize it or not, you’re absorbing that energy. And as a result, you are becoming just like them.
As the saying goes…
“The apple never falls far from the tree.”
But what if you didn’t choose these people? Not everyone is surrounded by winners...
Some people are born into negativity. Some find themselves trapped in relationships that keep them small. Some are stuck in jobs where everyone around them gave up on their dreams long ago.
And if you find yourself in one of these situations, it’s easy to feel like:
😞 Life isn’t fair.
😞 The universe is against you.
😞 You have no choice but to accept your lot in life.
And honestly? You’d be right.
Because life isn’t fair.
Not everyone is born into a great environment. Not everyone gets a head start. Not everyone’s inner circle is filled with amazing people.
While all of that is true, here is another truth most people don’t want to hear:
Even though life isn’t fair...
👉 You are still the average of the five people you spend the most time with.
The universe can be harsh and real like that.
So if your inner circle drains you, discourages you, and keeps you from growing…
You will become just like them.
That’s not pessimism.
That’s a universal law!
So, what can you do?
You have two choices:
1️⃣ Stay the same—and accept that your future will look exactly like your past.
2️⃣ Change your inner circle—and take control of your life.
It’s that simple. Of course simple never means easy...
What Should Your Inner Circle Look Like?
In a perfect world, your closest five people would be those who:
✅ Challenge you to be better.
✅ Support your growth.
✅ Want to see you win.
✅ Make you believe in something bigger than your current reality.
But what if your current circle doesn’t fit that description?
Well then it’s time to change your environment…
Your inner circle isn’t just about choosing different people—it’s about putting yourself in a new environment where the right people exist.
If you stay in the same places, doing the same things, you’ll keep attracting the same types of people.
That’s why changing your environment is the first step to changing your inner circle.
Here are some examples:
🔹 Join a gym where people value discipline, strength, health and growth.
🔹 Start a new hobby that puts you in the same space as ambitious, creative and interesting people.
🔹 Find a mastermind, a club, or a community where people are striving to become better versions of themselves.
Like I mentioned earlier, changing your circle and environment is simple in theory but difficult in execution
In order to change you must get out of your comfort zone. You must take action. You must make some sacrifices. And you must be patient. Because significant change takes time.
But every small step—every conversation, decision, and shift in focus get you closer to your ideal life.
So get moving!
